Implantation Bleeding During Pregnancy is Scary. Reassuring Facts About Implantation Bleeding

What is implantation bleeding?



It is not unusual that some women experience implantation bleeding in the early stages of pregnancy. Any vaginal bleeding outside implantation bleeding of pregnancy is classified as a threatened miscarriage, meaning the pregnancy is threatening to miscarriage. About 25% of all pregnancies are actually miscarried but 50% of all threatened miscarriages settle down and a normal pregnancy happens.



When does implantation bleeding occur?



Implantation bleeding occurs very early in pregnancy as a direct result of the fertilized egg (your growing baby) burying and snuggling its way into the lining of your womb. Implantation bleeding occurs about 10-14 days after the egg has been fertilized or when conception occurred. This is also around the time when your menstrual cycles would be expected.



Signs of Implantation Bleeding:



Signs of implantation bleeding can vary from one pregnant woman to another. It normally mild in nature and is much lighter than a normal menstrual period.



The color of implantation bleeding:



The color of implantation bleeding can vary form bright red to brown implantation bleeding. Bright red implantation bleeding means that there is an active area of bleeding within the womb and blood is flowing from the site of implantation to the vagina very quickly. It may indicate that implantation has just occurred.

Brown implantation bleeding is the color of old blood. When you get brown implantation bleeding it normally means that when the fertilized egg buried it way into the womb, a little blood was released. The bleeding that occurred at the moment of implantation stayed in the womb for some time so by the time you see it on your underwear or when you wipe yourself it showed up as brown implantation bleeding.



How long does implantation bleeding last?



Most cases of implantation bleeding last for a few minutes to a few days. If implantation bleeding lasts more than a few days then it may be a sign of vaginal infection or a threatened miscarriage.



How heavy is implantation bleeding?



Heavy implantation bleeding is unusual. The only thing you might notice with implantation bleeding is a pinkish or brown discharge when you wipe yourself after you go to the bathroom.



Cramps with implantation bleeding:



Cramps with implantation bleeding can happen. You may even experience cramps with or without bleeding. The reason you may experience cramps with implantation bleeding is because as the fertilized egg buries into your womb, it caused the muscle of your womb to contract. These contractions press on nerve endings and may result in mild to moderate menstrual like pains for 24-48 hours.



What to do if you have signs of implantation bleeding:



Don’t panic if you have any of the above signs of implantation bleeding. Remember 50% of all cases of implantation bleeding end up in a normal pregnancy.

Know your blood type. Depending on your partner’s blood type and if you are a rhesus negative blood type then it may be necessary to have an Rh-immune globulin injection within 24 hours of any pregnancy bleeding.

If you suspect you may be pregnant and your bleeding is from implantation bleeding then do a home pregnancy test. This home test should remain positive. If it is positive and you do not know your blood Rhesus factor, then call your provider for consultation for possible Rh-immune globulin.

Never insert a tampon, douche, or have sexual intercourse while you are bleeding.

Keep track of whether the bleeding is increasing or decreasing and how many pads you are using.

If you feel your pregnancy bleeding is heavier or lasting longer than the above ranges then call your health care provider for consultation immediately.

Heartburn Relief During Pregnancy – How to Deal With It?

Heartburn relief during pregnancy.  Is this actually possible?  Women all over the world have experienced acid reflux during their pregnancy.  This is usually caused by the pressure exerted by the growing uterus on the stomach.  This pressure as a result, pushes stomach contents to backup into your throat and giving a painful burning feeling.  This article, will share with you eight methods that will relieve you from this painful condition.

Heartburn relief during pregnancy:

1) Make sure you eat smaller food portions.  Don’t eat a lot at each meal.  Eat smaller portions, but make sure to eat more often during the day.  If you tend to eat a lot of food at one meal, this will cause stomach pressure on your stomach, which could cause contents to back up.

2) Eat more slowly and chew your food completely.  Make sure you completely chew your food, because this will help you in properly digesting the food you eat.

3) Avoid eating spicy foods.  Eating foods with a lot of spice in them will contribute to experiencing burning pain and discomfort.  

4) Avoid eating fatty and greasy foods.  These types of foods also will lead to you having burning pain.  

5) Don’t drink liquids with your meals.  This will cause your stomach to expand and possibly cause stomach contents to back up.  Drink fluids in between your meals.  

6) Don’t drink or eat anything right before going to bed.  This will allow your stomach to properly digest food and not have food just lying there in your stomach.

7) Don’t wear tight clothing.  Make sure you wear loose fitting clothes.  Tight clothing will cause undue pressure on your stomach and might cause acidic contents from your stomach to back up into your throat.

8) After eating, don’t bend from your waiste.  This can cause pressure on your stomach and have contents back up into your throat.

Pregnancy Constipation – Best Way To Avoid This Discomfort

For the first trimester she is always failing to hold her food in. Vomiting is her constant activity during the day. At the middle going throughout her last trimester her problem becomes the opposite. She can’t seem to get rid of her food which she ate days ago. This is what constipation does.

Liquids can do wonders for the skin. It moisturizes the body. Think of how it can do to a constipated mother with child. They make the movement of food in the digestive system smoothly. Eight times a day, that’s how frequent water should be taken in glasses. Also, even though iron is a good mineral that helps prevent anemia of the baby, it can be the source of constipation. Consulting the doctor is nothing to be afraid of. The contents of the supplemental medicines that were prescribed may contain ample amounts to iron. Doctors are known to custom fit those vitamins and minerals according to the needs of their patient. It will be best if the doctor examines the mother to adjust her medications.

Bananas are bad for a constipating person. It has a tendency to solidify the human excreta. That’s why it will be a great idea to keep your hands free of this fruit for now. There are fruits that promote good bowel movement, opt to eat those instead. Apples have the same effect like bananas.

Natural laxatives are sure ways to cure an ailing intestinal problem. But high doses of it will turn into a bigger concern. Taking in too much fiber can lead the stool to become very loose. Therefore leading to diarrhea that can deplete the body of it’s liquid. This will lower the potassium that is a life-threatening case both for the mother and the unborn.

Round Ligament Pain

Round ligament pain can be a scary thing the first time you experience it.  It is characterized by sharp pain that radiates in the abdominal, hip or groin area.  This pain can can be on one side or both sides.  Though it can be alarming, as it is quite sharp, round ligament pain should not create cause for concern.

This type of pelvic pain is caused by stretching or spasm in the round ligaments.  The round ligament’s role is to help support the uterus.  During pregnancy, the expansion of the uterus is enormous.  This places a great deal of strain on the round ligaments as well as other uterine ligaments.  As your uterus grows these ligaments can become over stretched or spasm, causing sudden sharp pelvic pain.

Pregnant women often worry that this acute pain indicates a severe problem.  Your mind races fearing that something is wrong with the baby, or that you have appendicitis or some other serious condition.  Generally, this is not the case.

Do be alert, however, if you are having fever, chills, painful urination, difficulty walking, or bleeding.  These symptoms could indicate a more serious condition.

Round ligament pain is generally brief in duration, causing fast, sharp twinges that are short-lived.  These pains may be recurring, but the duration of the pain is short.  Sudden movements such as coughing, sneezing or laughing activate these muscles and can be painful.

Changing positions too quickly can also result in these sharp, shooting pains.   This type of pain frequently occurs in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.

If you are suffering with round ligament pain, you may be able to get relief by bringing your knees up toward your chest.  This will take some of the strain off of your over-stretched and spasming ligaments.  If that does not provide relief, try lying on the side opposite the pain.  You may also find it comforting to take a warm bath, or apply warm compresses to the painful area.

Try not to sit or stand for extended periods of time.  Staying in one position for too long may aggravate the pain or allow it to occur more frequently.  It is important to move more slowly.  When you are changing to a sitting position, sit down slowly and gradually.  The same is true for when you are rising from a sitting position, get up slowly.  This will help decrease spasms and pain.  Slowing down your movements will allow your body more time to transition comfortably.

If you feel a sneeze or cough coming on, or if you are going to laugh, try to bring your knees up toward your chest a little bit.  This could help prevent the pain from beginning.

It is not unusual for round ligament pain to be problematic until your baby is born.  In rare cases, round ligament pain may ease on its own. While it is certainly a discomfort, it is not a permanent condition.  Once your baby is born, this pain should disappear completely.

It may be helpful to use gentle fascial stretching pregnancy pain relief techniques. 

Performing regular exercise and stretching can be valuable in keeping your body loose and more comfortable.  Prenatal yoga is an excellent exercise for pregnancy that will help to gently stretch your body and may prevent a variety of pains.

Use of a pregnancy pillow may help take the strain off of your ligaments at night.  If you do not have a pregnancy pillow, try placing a pillow between your knees and under your belly for extra support.  These small things may go a long way for alleviating discomfort.

The use of a pregnancy support belt may also be helpful.

Heartburn Remedies During Pregnancy That Can Help Relieve Your Pregnancy Heartburn Misery!

Heartburn relief during pregnancy is a common concern many pregnant women have. Read on to see what you what heartburn remedies during pregnancy are available.

What causes early pregnancy heartburn?

Heartburn in early pregnancy is a common complaint. The hormone progesterone is released as soon a woman becomes pregnant and can cause many early pregnancy symptoms which include pregnancy heartburn. Progesterone causes relaxation of the cardiac sphincter of the stomach which is the muscle between the stomach and the esophagus (food pipe). Relaxation of this muscle allows for some gastric acid and food to flow backwards and re-enter the esophagus (food pipe). Gastric acid irritates the lining of the esophagus causing a burning sensation in the center of the chest called pregnancy heartburn.

As your baby grows bigger and takes up more room in the abdominal area, the stomach itself is displaced and squashed. The growing uterus can permanently press on the cardiac sphincter of the stomach and allow gastric juices and food to constantly leak back into the esophagus (wind pipe) which may cause severe heartburn during pregnancy.

Heartburn remedies during pregnancy

Heartburn relief during pregnancy can be achieved by eating yogurt or drinking a glass of milk.

Try a tablespoon of honey in a glass of warm milk for pregnancy heartburn relief.

Eat smaller more frequent meals throughout the day rather than three large meals.

Avoid spicy, greasy, fatty foods, peppers and tomatoes produce extra gastric acid causing pregnancy heartburn.

Avoid foods that relax the cardiac sphincter of the stomach such as alcohol, peppermint, garlic, and chocolate.

Avoid eating for at least two hours before going to bed.

Do not lie down after eating to prevent the food from the stomach flowing back into your esophagus causing pregnancy heartburn.

Mild over-the-counter antacids such as Mylanta or Tums may prove helpful in relieving heartburn pregnancy symptom.

If your heartburn symptoms are severe or accompanied by headache or swelling (especially if you are later on in pregnancy) consult with your health care provider immediately as you may have pre-eclampsia of pregnancy.

Sleeping with extra pillows under your head to keep your stomach lower than your esophagus (food pipe) works very well to give you a better start to the day and a better nights sleep.

One of the most effective heartburn remedies during pregnancy is to try to prevent heartburn developing in the first place.
